UNM Safe Features

Log into the app using your NetID to access all available features. Enable location services in the app and on your phone to share your location in real time in case of an emergency.

  • Mobile BlueLight* This feature simultaneously places an emergency call and shares your real‑time location to responders.
  • Friend Walk* Send your location in real time to a friend or parent so they can watch you as you walk to your destination. Your friend doesn’t need the app.
  • Report a Tip* Submit online police report or text non-emergency information (e.g. vandalism) to UNMPD.
  • Safety Toolbox Easy access to the UNM Police Website, ability to chat anonymously with dispatch, and the ability to let someone know you’re safe following an incident.
  • Campus Maps Find buildings, locations, AEDs and emergency BlueLight phones, and track UNM and City of Albuquerque buses.
  • Support Resources Get connected to academic advisement, and physical and mental health support services.

Getting started with UNM Safe is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3!

  1. Where do I download UNM Safe?
    • You can download UNM Safe by following the link provided on this page or by searching “UNM Safe” in your device’s app store.
  2. Is this replacing LoboGuardian?
    • Yes. LoboGuardian is being retired on July 31, 2026.
  3. Will new featured be added later?
    • Yes! We are committed to continually enhancing the app with new features and content. Stay tuned for updates and announcements.

UNM Safe is a joint effort between the Office of the President, the Dean of Students, Campus Safety, the UNM Police Department, and Information Technologies.
